Privacy Policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
ID Scanner is made by Great Work LLC ("we"). This policy explains what the ID Scanner iPhone app does with your information.
Your data stays on your iPhone
The IDs and cards you scan, their images, and the details ID Scanner reads from them (such as name, number, dates of birth, issue and expiration, and address) are stored only on your iPhone, inside ID Scanner. Text and barcode reading run on the device. It is never sent to us, never used for advertising, and never sold. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
ID information is never uploaded
ID Scanner has no server for your IDs. Your ID details and images are not sent to us, to Google, or to anyone else, and the ads in the free version never receive them. An ID's images leave the app only if you tap Share and pick where they go.
Not an identity verification service
ID Scanner is a personal organizer for your own cards. It does not check whether an ID is genuine, does not verify anyone's identity, and is not a KYC or age verification tool.
Locking and device backups
Saved IDs open only after Face ID, Touch ID or your iPhone passcode. Scanned images are stored with iOS Data Protection, which keeps them unreadable while your iPhone is locked. Like other app data, ID Scanner's data is included in your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you have them turned on; those backups belong to you and are handled by Apple or your computer, not by us.
Permissions
- Camera: Used only while you scan an ID or card. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Face ID: Used only to unlock your saved IDs. Face ID data stays with iOS; ID Scanner only learns whether you were recognized. You can change this anytime in Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Other Apps.
- Notifications: ID Scanner Pro only: asked when reminders are turned on, and used only for expiration reminders. You can change this anytime in Settings > Notifications > ID Scanner.
No account
ID Scanner has no sign-up or login. We don't collect your name, email address or contacts.
Advertising
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. If you allow tracking when iOS asks (App Tracking Transparency), Google may use your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant ads; if you don't, ads are not personalized. Google may collect device information such as your IP address and device model to serve and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before any ad is requested, and you can change it later from Privacy Choices in the More tab. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Purchases
ID Scanner Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details.
Children
ID Scanner is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
